    Electrical circuits
    Definition of electrical circuit. Voltages, currents and powers. Two-terminal devices. Kirchhoff’s laws. Networks topology (element of). Equivalent two-terminal devices. Main theorems on networks. Direct current (DC) linear circuits analysis. Dynamical two-terminal devices: capacitors and inductors. Sinusoidal steady-state (AC) linear circuits analysis. Powers in Sinusoidal steady-state. Resonance. Ideal transformer and coupled inductors. Dinamical circuits (transient analysis): first and second order circuits and solution methods in the time-domain. Canonical responses. Laplace transform and its application to linear and time-invariant circuits. Memoryless n-port devices. Controlled voltage and current sources.

    Electromagnetic Fields
    Review of vector analysis. Maxwell equations. Stationary and quasistationary regimes. Electrostatic fields: the field laws and the constitutive relationships. Electrostatic of conductors: capacitors and partial capacitance. Electrostatic of dielectrics. Steady conduction: the field laws and the constitutive relationships. The e.m.f. and the elementary circuit law. Resistance of a thick conductor. Magnetostatic: the field laws and the constitutive relationships. Mutual and self inductances. Ferromagnetism, infinite permeability materials, magnetic circuits, electromagnet and permanent magnets. Magnetoquasistatics field (element of): field laws, skin-effect and eddy currents losses. Computation of forces.

    Computer laboratory: application of software tools for the numerical simulation of electrical circuits and for the numerical calculation of electromagnetic fields.

Antonello Tamburrino received the Laurea degree (summa cum laude) in Electronic Engineering from the University of Naples “Federico II” (Naples, Italy) in 1992, and the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin (Turin, Italy) in 1996.

In November 1994, October 2001 and December 2006 he was appointed Research Scientist, Associate Professor and Full Professor of Electrotechnics, respectively, at the University of Cassino and Lazio Meridionale, Italy. From 2003 to 2013, he was Adjunct Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Michigan State University (East Lansing, USA), Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. In Spring 2014, 2015 and 2016 he was Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Michigan State University.

At the University of Cassino he has given the following courses:

His research interests are mainly in the field of computational electromagnetics, with particular reference to electromagnetic nondestructive evaluation, inverse problems and integral methods:
1. Inverse Problems (primarily electromagnetic non-destructive evaluation):
1.1 Basic Theory on Inverse Problems
1.2 Numerical modeling: 3D numerical models of the probe-specimen interaction
1.3 Inversion algorithms: iterative and non-iterative fast quantitative methods
1.4 Experimental aspects: probes based on Fluxset, Giant Magneto Resistance and Magneto-Optic Inspection, arrays of inductive coils
1.5 Combined Eddy Current/Thermography imaging.

2. Computational and applied electromagnetics:
2.1 Plasmonics: numerical models (full-wave and 3D) for the interaction of electromagnetic field with array of metallic nanoparticles, including plasmonic resonances
2.2 3D Frequency Domain Fast Method: Gram-Schmidt - QR low rank approximations, Fast multipole method, pre-corrected FFT
2.3 Full-wave wide-band 3D numerical modeling of electromagnetic fields interacting with complex linear materials (possibly anisotropic, nonhomogeneous, etc.)
2.4 Interconnects modeling
2.5 Non-linear materials: 3D numerical methods for computing the electromagnetic field in superconductors, 3D numerical methods for computing the electromagnetic field in magnetic (hysteretic) materials
2.6 Modeling of the macroscopic electromagnetic response of composite materials
Dr. Tamburrino is coauthor of more than 160 papers published in refereed scientific journals, books, and international conference proceedings. He is co-editor of two books.
He was PI (for the research unit of the University of Cassino e del Lazio Meridionale) of the following research projects:

He has been awarded with the “Kenzo Miya Award”, during the International Symposium on Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics (ISEM), 2013.
He has been awarded with the “Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics Award”, during the International Symposium on Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics (ISEM), 2015 with the mention: “In recognition of outstanding multiple contribution to broad areas of of inverse problems and computational electromagnetics”.
From October 2014 he is Subject Editor (for Eddy Current Testing) for the scientific journal Non Destructive Testing and Evaluation International.
He has given several invited talks and lectures in internationa conferences and Schools:

He was a Visiting Professor at many international research institutions including the Michigan State University, Iowa State University (Ames, USA), Center For Nondestructive Evaluation (Ames, USA), Supelec (Gif-Sur-Yvette, France), CEA (Saclay, France), University of Manchester for Science and Technology (Manchester, UK), Sogang University (Seoul, South Korea).
He is/was co-advisor and member of the committee for the final defense for PhD thesis at Michigan State University.
He was member (Rapporteur) of the Committee for a Ph.D. defense at Doctoral School STITS, Université PARIS SUD (France).

He was member (Rapporteur) of the Committee for a Ph.D. defense at STIC Doctoral School, Université PARIS SACLAY (France).

He is the Head of the research unit of Electrotechnique at the University of Cassino and Lazio Meridionale.
He is the Head of the Laboratory of Computational Electromagnetism and Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation at the University of Cassino and Lazio Meridionale.
He is the Chair of the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Information Engineering at the University of Cassino and Lazio Meridionale since 2009.
He is member of the Standing Committee of the International Symposium on Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics (ISEM), of the International Standing Committee of the Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation Workshops (E’NDE) and of the Editorial Board of several international conferences, including the Compumag Conference, the ISEM conference and the E’NDE conference. He was co-chair of the 2011 International Symposium on Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics in Naples, Italy.
He was member of the organizing committee of the workshop “The Finite Element Methods in Electrical and Information Technology Engineering”, Cassino (Italy), 19-20 April 2001.
