Mean, variance and moments of a random variable: definition and properties. Markon inequality. Conditional mean. Joint moments of a pair of random variables. Correlation index. Correlated Gaussian vectors. MMSE estimator.

Luca Venturino was born in Cassino, Italy, on August 26, 1979. In 2006, he received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (UNICLAM), Italy. From 2006, he has been with the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering at UNICLAM, first as Assistant Professor (2006-2014) and currently as Associate Professor. In 1999 and 2000, he was Summer Student at the Fermi National Laboratory, Chicago (IL). In 2004 and 2009, he was Visiting Researcher with the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Columbia University, New York (NY). Between 2006 and 2008, he spent nine months at NEC Laboratories America, Princeton (NJ). His research interests are in detection estimation, and resource allocation, with emphasis on communications and radar signal processing. He is member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
