Analysis of antenna arrays: uniformly spaced linear arrays with uniform current distribution and tapered current distribution, omnidirectional and directive circular array, array of arrays. Synthesis of antenna arrays: field synthesis: sampling and oversampling methods, Fourier series method, optimization of the array pattern (Dolph-Chebyshev and Riblet arrays); super-gain arrays and optimization of the directivity; power synthesis: projections method; excitation of an array.

    Introduction of VNA, microwave measurements, measurement errors, calibration of VNA; impedance of a one-port device; impedance and scattering matrices of a N-port junction; variable attenuators and shifters, rotary phase shifters and isolators; properties of a three-port junction, T-junctions with and without losses, Wilkinson power divider; properties of a directional coupler, branch-line, directional couplers with coupled strip-lines and microstrip lines; one and two holes directional couplers; electromagnetic resonators: microstrip resonators; microwave filter design: insertion-loss method, frequency transformations, impedance and admittance inverters, microstrip half-wave filters.

Mario Lucido was born in Naples, Italy, in 1972. He received the Laurea degree (summa cum laude) in Electronic Engineering in 2000 from the University of Napoli “Federico II”, Naples, Italy and the Ph.D. degree in Electric and Telecommunication Engineering in 2004 from the University of Cassino, Cassino, Italy. He collaborated with the Department of Electronic and Telecommunication of the University of Napoli “Federico II” in 2000 and with the Department of Automation, Electromagnetism, Information Engineering and Industrial Math (DAEIMI) of the University of Cassino in 2004. At the DAEIMI, he was a Visiting Researcher from July 2004 to March 2005, and since April 2005 he is Researcher and Adjunct Professor of academic courses on antennas and microwave theory and devices. He has been supervisor of about 20 degree thesis and 2 PhD students and he is currently a supervisor of 1 PhD student. He took part in PRIN 2002 on "Analytical and numerical methods for the study of broadband interconnections", in PRIN 2003 on "Methods of analysis and synthesis with array architecture constraints", in COST ic0603 "Antenna Systems and Sensors for Information Society Technology (ASSIST)" of 2007 and PRIN 2009 on the "Development of electromagnetic models and a system for high-resolution radar antennas for automotive applications". He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the Italian Society of Electromagnetism (SIEM) and the National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT). He serves as reviewer for the IEEE Transactions on Magnetics magazines, JEMWA/PIER, IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, ACES Journal, Chinese Optics Letters. Dr. Lucido received the Giorgio Barzilai Prize for the best young scientist paper at the XVI Italian National Congress on Electromagnetic in 2006.

His research interests include semi-analytical methods for scattering problems, microwave circuits and microstrip antennas.
