Training Program

When composing their Training Plan (PAF), PhD candidates in Methods, Models and Technologies for Engineering must include:

A) some compulsory courses (organized by the University) common to all curricula;

B) some courses to be chosen according to the rules of their own curriculum:

 

Curriculum in Information Engineering and Electrical Engineering (minimum 12 ECTS):

  • the compulsory module “Mathematical Physics”;

  • at least 1 module from the basic courses listed below;

  • at least 2 modules from the specialist courses listed below.

Curriculum in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering (minimum 12 ECTS):

  • at least 6 specialist modules from those listed below.

Curriculum in Environments and Technologies for Motor Activity and Health (minimum 12 ECTS):

  • at least 6 basic modules from those listed below.

PhD candidates may also choose one or more modules offered in Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programs, or in other PhD Schools in Italy or abroad, provided that the total number of credits for educational activities alone is not less than 24 ECTS (excluding the credits for the compulsory university-wide modules).

For accreditation of courses taken at other institutions, the following criteria apply:

  • a 25-hour course corresponds to 4 ECTS credits;

  • a 15-hour course corresponds to 2 ECTS credits;

  • 5 seminars are equivalent to 1 ECTS credit;

  • 1 full day of activities within PhD Schools’ joint events is equivalent to 1 ECTS credit, unless otherwise specified by the organizers.

Each instructor will announce at the first lecture the assessment methods for awarding credits, previously agreed with the PhD Coordinator.

The training offer of the PhD Program in Methods, Models and Technologies for Engineering is described below.


Compulsory modules for all curricula (Group A)

The University organizes, for each three-year PhD cycle, a set of training activities corresponding to 8 ECTS per year. Candidates must attend at least 4 ECTS per year from this category. The training activities include basic IT and desktop publishing, as well as technical English.

The English course is held online, consists of 40 hours of lectures and exercises, and is accessible with personal CASI credentials at:
