Description

The CreMTech Laboratory is seeking a motivated Research Assistant to support an ongoing research project on the measurement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption, exposure, and concentration across industries and regions/countries.

The selected candidate will be responsible for collecting, systematizing, and harmonizing data and indicators already available in the academic and institutional literature. The goal is to build a comprehensive and structured database that summarizes the main measures of AI diffusion and concentration developed in recent years.

Main tasks

  • Conduct a systematic literature review of empirical studies and reports providing quantitative indicators of AI adoption, exposure, or concentration.

  • Identify and document the methodological foundations of each indicator (e.g. data source, sectoral or regional/national coverage, time period, normalization method).

  • Build a harmonized database, including metadata and references, ensuring comparability across measures.

  • Prepare summary tables and descriptive statistics to highlight main patterns and overlaps across indicators.

  • Collaborate with the research team to define taxonomy and coding rules for the database.

Requirements

  • Master’s student in Economics, Data Science, or related fields.

  • Strong interest in AI economics, innovation studies, and quantitative research.

  • Basic familiarity with data collection and documentation (Excel, Stata, or R).

  • Ability to synthesize complex academic material clearly and systematically.

  • Good command of English (most literature will be in English).
