EUt+ Week, ‘Shaping Paths for Education and Research’: UNICAS Welcomes EUt+ partners to Cassino and Gaeta to jointly redesign European Higher Education
GAETA, ITALY — From September 21 to 25, international delegations from the member universities of the European University of Technology (EUt+) gather across Cassino and Gaeta under the overarching theme "Shaping paths for education and Research".
Three years after the launch of the project EUt Accelerate, the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (UNICAS) is hosting the EUt+ Week for the second time. Guided by alliance’s core principle, "European values empowering technology", academic leaders, researchers, and institutional staff from across Europe will assess ongoing progress, refine established roadmaps, and drive the operationalization and plan the next actions to make the European campus of the future increasingly more real.
The core working sessions will run from September 22 through September 24 across two distinct UNICAS locations: the Folcara Campus in Cassino and the historic Angevin Castle in Gaeta. This ideally links the “innovation and education hub” with a landmark of European cultural heritage, embodying the dialogue between tradition, modern technology, and the challenges of European higher education for the future.
The event will kick off with the official Opening Session at the Aula Magna “Federico Rossi” of Campus Folcara on the morning of September 22, with opening greetings from the Rector of UNICAS, Marco Dell'Isola, and the UNICAS Principal Representative, Sergio Nisticò. The morning program will feature strategic discussions around key themes central to EUt+ actions, beginning with "AI for the European Student", exploring the role of artificial intelligence in contemporary higher education and student learning pathways, followed by a panel discussion on "EUt+: Paving the Way to a Full European Degree", with a video address from Mr. Enrico Letta, President of Jacques Delors Institute and Former Prime Minister of Italy.
On 23 and 24 September, the participants will gather in dedicated working groups in Gaeta for cross-institutional strategy sessions on sustainability, cybersecurity, digital resilience, biotechnology and robotics, to name just a few of the key themes addressed by the European Research Groups (ERGs).
Meanwhile, on the front of education, curriculum harmonization efforts will advance to enable seamless mobility across the EUt+ Alliance, specifically within Computer Science, Industrial and Civil Engineering, and cross-field Business and Technology programmes.
The EUt+ week will conclude on 24 September with a plenary session summarizing the key outcomes of the four days. Delegates will outline the next steps with a view to strengthening integrated mobility across EUt+ campuses for students, academic and administrative staff, expanding joint research initiatives and reinforcing connections between academia and the European industrial ecosystem.
