Representing the University was Maura Imbimbo, Professor of Structural Engineering at the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering (DICEM), who was part of the Italian delegation comprising representatives of universities, institutions, and organizations engaged in research and international cooperation.
The Italian delegation was accompanied by Prof. Ennio Vivaldi, former Rector of the Universidad de Chile and former Ambassador of Chile to Italy, and Prof. Dr. Valerio Branchi, Executive Coordinator of the Chile–Italy Tertiary Education Innovation Programme (CUECH – Ministry of Education of Chile, MINEDUC).
The seminar focused on internationalization and cooperation for innovation in higher education between Chile and Italy. These topics were discussed together with several Rectors and delegates of the Consortium of Chilean State Universities (CUECH).
During the seminar, the proposal for the establishment of the CIICH – Italian-Chilean Interuniversity Consortium, to be based in Santiago, was also presented. The consortium aims to strengthen academic, scientific, technological, and innovation cooperation between Chilean and Italian universities.
As part of the programme, the delegation paid institutional visits to several leading Chilean universities and was welcomed at the Embassy of Italy in Santiago, where it met H.E. Valeria Biagiotti, Ambassador of Italy to Chile.
The seminar provided an important opportunity for dialogue with Chile's state university system and marked the beginning of a significant academic cooperation project.
