The European Student Card (ESC) is a digital card designed to make student mobility easier and streamline procedures across Europe. It allows students to access a wide range of services and benefits at participating universities and higher education institutions — currently over 500 institutions in 36 countries.
UNICAS is proud to be one of the first 13 universities in Italy to actively issue the European Student Card. As part of the Erasmus+ 2021–2027 programme and the European Student Card Initiative (ESCI), we are leading the way in digital student mobility.
Why get your ESC?
- Use it as a valid student ID during Erasmus+ or other academic mobility programmes.
- Benefit from simplified administrative procedures and easier recognition of student status across Europe.
- Gain the official status of a “European Student”, facilitating student mobility and access to campus services and cultural offers abroad.
How to request your ESC
The procedure is entirely digital and must be completed via PC, smartphone, or tablet exclusively using a standard web browser (e.g. Chrome, Safari, Firefox).
Quick steps:
- Log in to the GOMP Student Portal.
- Have your photo validated.
- Select the option for the European Student Card.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to generate your digital card.
Please note
- The ESC is available for Erasmus+ students (study and traineeship) hosted by European institutions holding an ECHE.
- Not all European Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are currently accepting the ESC yet.
- Before starting your mobility, always check with your host institution which specific services are available via the ESC.
