Committee for sustainable development - (CASe) UNICAS

The working group "University Committee for Sustainable Development" (CASe) intends to apply an integrated approach of a transdisciplinary nature to transform and develop social responsibilities. Based on the target of the 2030 UN Agenda for Sustainable Development, the 17 Sustainable development goals (SDGs) are to be achieved. The action plan for the people,  planet and prosperity was signed in September 2015 by the governments of the 193 UN member countries.

In this context, the Committee pursues knowledge development and transmission by the Art. I.2 'Institutional Purposes' of the 'Statute of the University", making an organic and coherent combination of research, teaching and the third mission regarding scientific, cultural, civil, economic and social progress.

The Committee is primarily launching a group of researchers to study the mainstreaming of sustainability objectives. Focusing on specialized research activities will allow developing the policy strategies to apply the SDGs in different scientific fields.

This through:

1. Teaching and Training for Sustainable Development

2. Research

3. Third Mission Activities

In 1987, Gro Harlem Brundtland, president of the World Commission on Environment and Development, WCED, presented the "Our common future" report, laying the foundation for Sustainable Development.
